York Area Development Corporation
(YADC), a non-profit housing developer, received a grant in
the amount of $1500 from M&T Bank. The funds were used to
purchase Wii systems, accessories, and games for a few of
our facilities. Delphia Management Corporation (DMC), a
“sister” company, manages the properties that have been
developed by YADC.
DMC has developed a “partnership” with the York
College Nursing Program that enables the tenants of some of
the facilities to meet with nursing students to have their
blood pressure screened, to learn more about the medications
they are taking, to obtain information on various illnesses,
hygiene and nutrition, and to participate in activities –
including “light exercise”. The nursing students have been
using the Wii at the Kingston House to get the tenants
“moving”. Shane
Patterson, a Business Banker with M&T and a board member of
YADC, recently stopped by the Kingston House and “bowled”
with some of the tenants.
